Located in the rolling hills of unincorporated Thousand Oaks and one of the city’s most desirable neighborhoods, Lynn Ranch offers a unique blend of country living, equestrian charm and suburban convenience.
Lynn Ranch itself is made up of three areas: Lynn Ranch, North Lynn Ranch and Rancho Dos Rios. The neighborhoods share similar hallmark features— generous lot sizes, custom-built homes and a strong connection to the area’s rural roots.
Originally purchased by the Lynn family in 1918 from Richard Orville Hunt and his wife Mary Jane, the land was used for raising sheep and cattle until the late 1950s. In the decades that followed, the family sold much of the land to the Janss Corporation, which led to today’s residential development.
A notable piece of the Lynn family’s legacy is a 3.69-acre estate on Calle Laredo and a large land parcel surrounding the duck pond that was later developed into the gated subdivision of Rancho Dos Rios in the mid-1990s.
Today, Lynn Ranch is home to hundreds of custom residences. Properties range from modest sized to more than 7,000 square feet, while lot sizes often exceed half an acre, with many properties spanning more than a full acre. The expansive lots frequently feature equestrian facilities, swimming pools, RV parking and mature landscaping, offering a private and spacious living experience.
Homes throughout the area display a variety of architectural styles, with traditional ranch-style designs blended seamlessly with modern touches.
Although Lynn Ranch is an unincorporated area under the jurisdiction of Ventura County, it enjoys many community amenities. Residents have access to scenic horse and hiking trails, including the La Barranca trail.
The neighborhood is also home to Redeemer Lutheran Church, Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, the highly regarded Madrona Elementary School and is nearby Redwood Middle School (off Camino Manzanas and Gainsborough Road). The Teledyne Scientific Company is also located in Lynn Ranch.
Lynn Ranch offers a slower pace of life that appeals to those seeking space, tranquility, and a strong sense of community. For information call Greg Goldberg at (805) 807-0915.
